Handcrafted Tangaliya Shawl
The Tangaliya shawl Kutch is a 800-year-old handwoven textile from the Kutch-Saurashtra region of Gujarat, India. Woven by the Dangasia community, it is known for its unique raised-dot patterns created through a special knotting technique. Traditionally worn by women as wraps or skirts and odhani (veil), Tangaliya shawls Kutch feature intricate geometric motifs inspired by nature. The term ‘Tangaliya’ comes from ‘Tangalio’, meaning the lower body. This rare craft holds Geographical Indication (GI) status, preserving its cultural heritage.
